– Retired lighthouse keeper Johann lives on the island of Amrum. When he learns that he can no longer pursue his passion, he becomes more and more depressed. Alone he cannot cope, which is why his sister Kaethe, who lives on the mainland, drives to the island once a week providing him food. As Johann's depression deepens, she tries to convince him, by all means, to leave his home and his beloved lighthouse behind and to move with her to Elmshorn on the mainland. Whithout her realising, Johann says silently goodbye to her.
